New Avicii documentary set to be released in 2023
He was an artist who blew the minds and captured the hearts of electronic music lovers like few others have. And despite his tragic passing in 2018, the story and talent of Tim Bergling a.k.a. Avicii continues to fascinate and inspire the world, with a new documentary set to be released in 2023.
Directed by Swedish filmmaker Henrik Burman, the documentary will take a look at the prodigious producer and DJ’s rise to the top and feature never-seen-before archive footage and interviews with Bergling himself. The film will also include new material, such as interviews with the late artist’s family, friends and musical peers.
Burman said of the project, “My goal is to provide an honest and new perspective on both the artist Avicii and Tim’s life. I want this to be a film that surprises the audience and challenges the public’s image of Sweden’s biggest international artist of today and, in doing so, also shine a light on what his music has meant to so many people.”
Bergling died by suicide in 2018 at only 28 years old. Widely regarded as a pioneer in electronic dance music, he left behind a huge musical legacy and continues to be celebrated for the trailblazing sound he forged.
Earlier this year, it was announced that a new Avicii biography by Swedish journalist Måns Mosesson will hit shelves on November 16th 2021, with proceeds going towards the Tim Bergling Foundation, a mental health charity set up by his parents.
And in June, Avicii’s iconic hit ‘Levels’ was named No. 1 of Tomorrowland’s Top 100 festival tracks as decided by worldwide public vote, just a month after a famous stadium in Stockholm was renamed Avicii Arena to honour Bergling as one of Sweden’s biggest musical stars.
